A Polish pptd.silica (SiO2 88.7%, sp. area (BET) 73 m(2)/g, oil absorption no. 137 g/100 g, total pore vol. 250 mm(3)/g, particle diam (D-50) 0.34 im) added (4.8 or 7.25 vol.% (max!)) to indoor dispersion paints, improved the optical efficiency of TiO2, coating color (lesser yellowness, enhanced whiteness and brightness), and coating scrub resistance (by a factor of 1.5-7). Farbsil enabled TiO2 content to be cut by 50% without sacrificing paint performance and hiding power (98%).
