Studies on the preparation and textural properties of polymeric supports for hydrositylation catalysts
Vinylbenzenes were block or emulsion polymd. with 2-octane, decanol,, PrOH, toluene, p-xylene or cyclopentane as porogens. At (2:1) isooctane/monomer ratio, the sp. surface was 480 m(2)/g (402 in 12-hr heating at 300 degrees C), pores were 4.5 nm in diam.; with (1:1) cyclopentanelmonomer, the data were 590 and 6.4. The Pt catalysts were highly selective and active in hydrosilylation of allyl glycidyl ether with heptamethyltriethoxysilane (96.7-99.6%) and triethoxysilane (97.7-98.8%). The yields of desirable products of the above reactions were 65-86% and 73-89%, respectively.
