The properties of polyurethane elastomers to he used as polymer cores in sandwich plate systems (SPS)
Tensile and monoaxial extension tests showed cast urethane elastomers prepd. from oligo(oxytetramethylene)diol (M = 1000), 4,4'-methylenebis(phenyl isocyanate), and 3,3'-dichloro-4.4'-diaminediphenylmethane to have Young's modulus 760 MPa, tensile strength 57 MPa, elongation at break 146%, and Brinell hardness 37 MPa. The glass transition temp. of hard segments was ca. 95 degrees C. At 80-160 degrees C, this elastomer had the max storage modulus (E') of all the elastomers prepd.
