Ecological assessment of processes low-sulfur Diesel oil production
Life cycle anal. (LCA) was applied for comparison of 12 technol. schemes for prodn. of Diesel oils of expected European fuel qual. (S level 10 mg/kg, low heating value 43 MJ/kg). The environmental impact emissions to air and energy consumption were the main criteria for the LCA. The hydrocracking-based schemes showed the lowest energy consumption per fuel unit. According to the LCA, the hydrocracking and delayed coking-based scheme proved to have the lowest environmental impact. The usability of LCA for assessing the refinery schemes was confirmed.
