Gas desulfurization in an impinge-jet scrubber
A scrubber with 2 coaxial impinging jet streams was constructed and used for desulfurization of SO2-contg. air (500 ppm) to study the effect of the liquid-gas stream ratio, gas velocity, distance between the nozzle outlets, and chem. compn. of the absorbent soln. on the scrubber performance. The highest desulfurization efficiency was achieved in the Na2CO3 soln. and Ca(OH)(2) suspension at 20-25 degrees C when the inter-nozzle distance was 150 mm and inlet pH was 6.87.8 and 8.0-9.0, resp.
