Properties of forming oils based on rape-seed oil and fatty acid methyl esters
Com. higher fatty acid Me ester (FAME) was added to rapeseed oil used as lubricant for concrete-forming moulds. The addn. of FAME resulted in a decrease of kinematic viscosity and wetting angle (steel plate) as well as in an increase of the freezing temp. of the oil. The addn. resulted also in an increase of the quality of the concrete pieces produced in the lubricated moulds. The highest compression strength of the pieces was achieved when pure FAME was used as lubricant. The new FAME-based lubricant did affect neither the form surface nor the concrete strength. Addn. of 50% (or more) FAME to the rapeseed oil was recommended.
