Use of modified clays for removal of odorous compouds from air
Waste clay (21 m(2)/g) from lignite mine was used as adsorbent of odorous compds. (BuNH(2), BuSH) after modification with NH(4)F, NH(4)Cl, NH(4)NO(3), (NH(4))(2)SO(4), (NH(4))(3) PO(4) and H(3)BO(3) (0.5-2.0% by mass) and calcination at 500 degrees C for 16 h. The adsorption was carried out at 150 in N(2) flow system (30 mL/min). The highest chemisorption of BuSH was observed for the sulfate-modified clay (84%) and of BuNH(2) for phosphate-modified one.
