Essential oils of 11 Chaenomeles superba cultivars were isolated by steam distn. and analyzed gas chromatog. with mass spectroscopy. The yield of oils was 0.007-0.014%. (E,E)-alpha-Farnesene, alpha-terpineol, linalool and linalool oxide were the main components of the oils. Ethyl hexanoate and octanoate were also present.
