Method for struvite recovery from a wastewater of mineral fertilizer industry
Wastewater from prodn. of mineral fertilizer was treated with aq. solns. of MgCl(2) and NH(4)Cl in continuous liq. jet-pump crystallizer to recover the wastewater-contained P (0.444% by mass) and to ppt. MgNH(4)PO(4)center dot 6H(2)O (struvite) at pH 9-11. The struvite crystals (9-29 mu m in size) were sepd. by filtration. A flowsheet of industrial-scale plant for recovering struvite (wastewater processing capacity 20 m(3)/h) was proposed.
