Temperature programed reduction of supported tungsten and platinum-tungsten catalysts
Four Al(2)O(3)-supported W and Pt-W oxide catalysts were prepd. by impregnation of gamma-Al(2)O(3) with aq. soln. of (NH(4))(2)WO(4) and HPtCl(6) oxidized at 400-900 degrees C and then subjected to temp.-programmed redn. (TPR) with H(2) or CO. The TPR-H(2) profiles showed 2 or 3 temp. max. depending on the catalyst compn. Addn. of Pt to the W/Al(2)O(3) catalysts resulted in a decrease of redn. temp. Action of H(2) resulted in a decrease of oxidn. degree of the metals while CO took part in chem. reaction of CO(2), CH(4), H(2) and H(2)O formation.
