Preparation of activated carbon by carbonization of willow (Salix spp). Part 1. Physical activation
The willow (Salix spp.) wood was carbonized, activated isothermally with CO(2) at 700-900 degrees C up to burn-off level 50% and studied for porous structure (pore vol., sp. surface area) and sorption ability towards MeOH, CH(2)Cl(2), PhH, C(6)H(12), CCl(4), SO(2), NO, MeH and H(2) at 25 degrees C. The narrow pores (below 0.8 nm) dominated in the structure. The total pore vol. was about 0.35 cm(3)/g and sp. surface about 700 m(2)/g. The sorption ability was obsd. for CH(2)Cl(2), MeOH, PhH, SO(2) and NO.
