Two KOH-activated semicokes (made of coal tar pitch or coal) were pelletized with poly(vinyl alc.) and poly(vinylidene fluoride) binders to C monoliths. The C pellets were studied for pore structure, MeOH vapour adsorption (adsorption and wetting heat and enthalpy) to evaluate their applicability as adsorbents in cooling systems. The poly(vinyl alc.)-bound pellets showed higher quality and better properties.
