Tribological studies on heat-hardened pulveraceous composites for frictive uses
A mixt. of resol and novolak resins (30:70 or 70:30) was filled with Al(2)O(3) (42-64%) and Cu (14-32%) powders and cured under pressure at 150 degrees C for 1 h. The composite was sliced to test samples and studied for abrassive wear resistance in a friction test stand. The highest abrasion resistance showed the composite made of resol/novolak (70:30) matrix filled with 42% or 56% Al(2)O(3) and 28% or 14% Cu, resp.
