Barrier properties of biocomposite protective films based on natural biopolymers
Aq. solns. of hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, chitosan, lysozyme and glycerol were used for prepn. of 0.1 +/- 0.01 mm thick biocomposite films studied for barrier properties. Permeability of H2O vapor was detected by the ASTM method and permeability of smoke components by solid-phase microextrn. according to the exptl. design. The addn. of chitosan and lysozyme resulted in a decrease in permeability of the films and the H2O vapor transmission rate.
