Effect of oxidative modification of synthetic rapeseed esters on their utility properties
Corn. rapeseed fatty acid Me ester was transesterified with CMe(2)(CH(2)OH)(2) and trimethylolpropane to resp. di- and tri-esters and oxidated with air O(2) at 60 degrees C and 80 degrees C and with H(2)O(2) at 30 degrees C to resp. satd. esters. The oils were studied for acid, OH and I(2) nos., colour, ability to H(2)O/oil emulsion formulation, thermal properties, viscosity, solidification temp. and tribological properties. An improvement of thermal stability and sizing load of the oils was achieved.
