Phase inversion in water-organic dispersions of poly(vinyl chloride) plastisol
Ten com. surface active agents (1-16.0 mg/cm(3)) were used for stabilization of aq. emulsions of PVC plastisols in Bu(2) phtalate after their diln, with xylene, PhMe, AcOBu, BuOH or cyclohexanone (8-24.3 mmol/g). The dispergation efficiency was detd. as a function of sedimentation time. Optimum concns. of the plastisol, its limiting viscosity no., max. viscosity, pseudoplastic factor and activation energy of viscous flow were also detd. Only small increase in the dispergation efficiency was achieved after addn. of surface active agents and org. solvents. The phase inversion was obsd.
