Phenoxy/Hytrel blends. I. Miscibility and melt-state reactions
Polyhydroxy ether of bisphenol A (phenoxy)/Hytrel (Hy) blends were obtained by melt mixing throughout the composition range and at several processing times. Interchange reactions took place and were followed by the torque behavior, solubility tests, and FTIR spectra. After a mixing time of 15 min, they gave rise to basically unreacted products, but at longer mixing times, they produced both branched and crosslinked products. The blends were miscible at all compositions due to the presence of specific interactions, as was seen because of the presence of a single T-g by DSC that was confirmed by DMTA.
