An Electrostatic Model for the Unusual Salt Effect on the Stability of Ionic Copolymer Micelles
An interesting observation reported that the critical micelle concentrations of an ionic amphiphilic block copolymer increased with the salt concentration. Numerical solutions of the Poisson-Boltzmann equations for polyelectrolyte brushes have suggested the existence of a region of approximately zero net charges close to the nonpolar core surface. The observed unusual salt effect could be explained if a kind of counter ion condensation is assumed in this region.
