Inhibitive Behavior and Mechanism of a Ferrite Inhibition Pigment in Epoxy Paints
Epoxy coatings containing different volume fractions of a ferrite inhibition pigment, Ferrinov-100, have been successfully prepared and their inhibitive properties have been studied by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and immersion tests. The results showed that Ferrinov-100 can improve the protective ability of the epoxy coating, but only if its volume fraction is 10%. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) spectra results indicate that Ferrionv-100 can form a double inhibitive layer on the steel surface.
