Rationally designed peroxidase-like enzymes, H39Q Cyt b(5) and H39S Cyt b(5), were found to exhibit enhanced hydrolysis activity by catalyzing the hydrolysis of 4-nitrophenyl acetate, providing new information and ideas for the rational design of functional metalloproteins.
