We present the dipole moments of amino acid residues, Gly and Ala, as the building blocks of alpha-helix, which inherently take account of the hydrogen bonding in the main chain of polypeptide in the circumstance of alpha-helix. The dipole moments can be used to predict the macrodipole moments of longer polypeptides in alpha-helix.
