Poultry feathers from a slaughterhouse were analyzed for moisture, thermal decompn. and elementary compn. and then combusted in an elec. furnace at 700-900 degrees C for 1-3 h. The ashes were analyzed for chem. and phase compns. The combustion at above 700 degrees C yielded ashes contg. total and HCl-sol. P (14.2-20.0% and 13.3-18.7%, resp.). They can be used as phosphate fertilizer.
