Kinetics of synthesis of dicyclohexyl succinate catalyzed with tetrabutyl titanate and without addition of any catalyst
Succinic acid was esterified with cyclohexanol in presence of Ti(OBu)(4) at 120-170 degrees C and alc./acid ratio 3:1 to 10:1 to resp. mono- and diesters. The monoester formation was a 2nd order reaction with respect to acid and alc. while the diester formation depended only on the monoester concn. When the process was carried out without any addn. of the catalyst, the monoester formation was a 2nd order reaction with respect to acid, while the diester formation depended only on monoester concn. The resp. kinetic equations were derived.
