Powdered Zn-C and Zn-Mn battery wastes were treated with H2SO4 and H2O2, (NH2)(2)CO or (COOH)(2) to recover Mn and Zn. The addn. of (COOH)(2) resulted in the highest degree of Mn recovery. The recovery of Zn did not depend on the addn. of reducing agents.
