Synthesis, Characterization, and Photocatalytic Degradation Performances of Composite Photocatalytic Semiconductors (InVO4-TiO2) Using Pure and Mixed Phase Titania Powders
A synthesis method has been developed for composite semiconductors with visible range photocatalytic activity. Orthorhombic InVO4 was synthesized using a modified complex precursor method and then amalgamated, via mechanical grinding, with anatase, rutile or mixed phase titania. The materials were characterized using XRD, SEM and EDS. InVO4-TiO2 composites showed a slight increase in decomposition of methyl orange for mixed phase titania and a significant decrease in decomposition for anatase titania.
