Evaluation of Thermodynamic and Kinetic Parameters from Voltammetric Responses for Molecular-Solid Li(Li1/3Ti5/3)O-4 Particles Confined on Electrode
Theoretical analysis about the cyclic voltammogram (CV) for the solid-state Li(Li1/3Ti5/3)O-4 (LTO) particles with various sizes (the median diameters; 0.30 similar to 21.2 mu m) under the diffusion-less condition were applied for estimating the experimentally accessible physical quantities, i.e., the thermodynamic interaction parameter (W) affecting the electrode potential for a reversible electrode reaction, the kinetic interaction parameter (Delta W-double dagger) among O, R and [O-R](double dagger) redox sites, where [O-R](double dagger) denotes the activated complex, for the electrode reaction under solid-state, and the formal rate constant (k(o)') of the electrode reaction for the Li(Li1/3Ti5/3)O-4 + Li+ + e(-) = Li-2(Li1/3Ti5/3)O-4 couples. It was examined how the resulting parameters change with the sizes of LTO particle with the additive of carbon powder. (C) 2013 The Electrochemical Society. All rights reserved.
