Technology for production of NS fertilizers by compacting method and their impact on the grain crop and quality of winter wheat cereals
(NH4)(2)SO4 and urea 1:1 mixts. (grain size fractions up to 4 mm) were compacted under 5-15 kN/cm(2) (50-150 MPa), studied for d. and compression strength (after grinding), and then used for fertilizing fields (N dose 120 or 200 kg/ha) where winter wheat was cultivated. For comparison, solid urea and optionally S-contg. solns. of NaNO3 and urea were used as fertilizers. The grain crop of winter wheat and gluten content in the cereal grains were detd. Use of the new (NH4)(2)SO4-urea fertilizer did result neither in higher wheat grain crop nor in a significantly higher gluten content in the cereals when compared to other fertilizers used except for the high N dose (200 kg/ha) of the new fertilizer.
