Plates simulating the fixed orthodontic appliances were applied in pigs snout for 6 months. to study the release of Ni, Cr, Cu, Fe and Si ions from steel and their accumulation in pig tissues. The elements were accumulated in livers, kidneys, lungs and hair of the pigs.
