Extraction of paprika carotenoids with supercritical carbon dioxide
Three samples of paprika with various seed contents were ground and extd. with supercrit. CO2 (280-350 bar, 60-80 degrees C) under pilot plant conditions to recover carotenoid pigments from the biomass. The highest yield of the extract (11.0% by mass) was achieved when a seeds-contg. raw material (30%) was used. An increase in pressure resulted in an increase in the color of extracts.
