The air-atmosphere sol-gel process is often used to prepare metallic oxides powders. This letter addresses for the first time that face-centered-cubic (FCC) metallic Ni phase also can be obtained by using sol-gel process in air atmosphere. The as-prepared nanoparticles have grain sizes in the range of 20 to 90 mm Our results provide new insight into the sol-gel process.
