Fullerene C-60 dimers encapsulating one or two molecules of water in two C-60 cages were newly synthesized, demonstrating almost no difference in chemical reactivity between empty C-60 and H2O@C-60. The X-ray structure of the doubly encapsulating dimer revealed the existance of the water molecules at the center of each C-60 cage.
