Multicolor Saccharide-analysis Sensor Arrays Based on Boronic Acid-containing Thin Films Combined with Various Anionic Dyes
A novel saccharide sensor array that shows distinct color changes was developed. By copolymerizing a boronic acid monomer and an amine monomer on a pattern-printed microscope slide, boronic acid-containing thin films were obtained. After adsorbing anionic dyes on the thin films, the sensor array thus obtained was immersed in aqueous saccharide solutions. As the saccharide concentration increased, the sensor array distinctly changed its color. This methodology enables us to measure saccharide concentration with ease by pattern-based sensing utilizing multiple color changes of the sensor array.
