Studies on the Surfactants of the N-Acyl Amino Acid(part 8) (cmc and Emulsion Stability of N-Acyl Amino Acid Type Anionic Surfactant)
The basic surface active properties of surface tension, cmc, emulsifying power and emulsion stability of N-acyl amino acid type anionic surfactants, that is, sodium N-acyl-N-methyl-β-alaninate, sodium N-acyl sarcosinate and sodium N-acyl-N-methyl-taurate are investigated. The cmc values determined by measurements of surface tension were in the range of 3.0×10-4 to 4.0×10-3mol/ℓ and the surface tensions of the aqueous solutions revealed in the range of 25 to 46dyne/cm. From those results, It was found that the surface tension lowering ability was increased with the increase of hydrophobic alkyl chain. The cmc values of sulfonated groups were inferior to those of long chain carboxylated ones at given hydrophobic group. Emulsion and its stability of compounds were also investigated by microphotograph. The stabilities of dispersion and emulsion for sulfonated groups were superior to that of carboxylated ones.
