Four bottom sediments taken off from small polymictic water bodies located in rural areas were studied for sp. surface and pore size. Surface area of the sediments was 0.62-2.39 m(2)/g. Mesopores with a size 10.4 nm dominated in their structure. The surface area and the mesopores vol. of the sediments increased with increasing Ca, Fe and Al contents.
