Organic Solvent Nanofiltration - Challenges and Approaches of an Innovative Membrane Separation Process
Coupling of innovative and conventional separation technologies has a large potential to improve the energy and solvent demands of existing processes. One example is organic solvent nanofiltration, a pressure-driven membrane separation process suitable for applications in organic solvents. Challenges are mostly related to the conceptual and detailed process design. To address these challenges, a variety of different tools were developed, integrated within an overall five-step design workflow and demonstrated on a case study.
