Continual Automatic Generation of Gases on Hydrophobic Transverse Microgrooved Surface
A surface with hydrophobic transverse microgrooves was designed and fabricated to achieve the stable entrapped gas within the surface. By successfully entrapping a gas in the designed surface, optical observations in a water tunnel indicated that the gas was generated continually to replace the gas carried off by the flowing water, resulting in a stable gas film at solid liquid interfaces.
