Equilibria and kinetics of reactive extraction of pranoprofen enantiomers from organic solution
Equilibria and kinetics for reactive extraction of pranoprofen (PRA) enantiomers with methyl-beta-cyclodextrin (Me-beta-CD) in water as diluent were reported. The theory of extraction accompanied by a chemical reaction has been used to obtain the kinetics. The reactions between Me-beta-CD and PRA enantiomers fall in Regime 3. The reactions are first order with respect to PRA and second order with respect to Me-beta-CD. The forward rate constants are 2.82 x 10(-4) m(6)/(mol(2) s) for S-PRA and 3.53 x 10(-4) m(6)/(mol(2) s) for R-PRA, respectively. The developed extraction model is suitable to analyze and evaluate the reactive extraction of PRA enantiomers by Me-beta-CD. (c) 2012 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
