ATOFINA Chemicals - A sign of new times
ATOFINA CHEMICALS, INC. (formerly Elf Atochem North America) produces and markets intermediates and performance polymers that generated $2 billion of revenues in 2000. Drive south on the interstate through Philadelphia and, just beyond the Grecian columns of the Philadelphia Museum of Art is a new logo adorning the western skyline of the City of Brotherly Love. it is a delta "A" in a blue shield-it is the logo of ATOFINA. In December 2000 the ATO logo came down and the new symbol was erected. Within the headquarters building changes have been more profound than just changing a logo. There is a new CEO-Jean-Pierre Seeuws-and a whole new philosophy on how to run global businesses. All of the 27 separate ATOFINA business units are organized and managed on a worldwide basis. And within ATOFINA Chemicals there are no exceptions to this rule. Seven of the worldwide business units are present in Philadelphia, two of which are headquartered there; the other five being the regional North American operations. The two businesses that boast a global headquarters in Philadelphia are Organic Peroxides and Additives.
