Energy-efficient algorithms of the steam curing for the in situ production of precast concrete members
The use of precast concrete (PC) members has increased as building structures have become taller and larger. However, cost overruns can occur because of inventory control and transportation of PC members. To address this issue, in situ production of PC members has been considered. However, the in situ curing system causes substantial energy loss due to lack of preparation against energy loss as well as working condition. Although many researchers have conducted research about the steam curing of PC members with temperature and time control, no systematic research exists on energy consumption or CO2 emissions. The objective of this study is to develop the energy-efficient algorithms of the steam curing for the in situ production of PC members. The results of this study will provide basic information for subsequent efforts to implement an energy-efficient in situ PC production system. (C) 2013 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
