Determination of the solubility, dissolution enthalpy and entropy of 3-pentadecylphenyl acrylate in methanol-ethanol solutions
The solubilities of 3-pentadecylphenyl acrylate in methanol-ethanol mixture solvents of different compositions were measured at temperatures ranging from 273.15 K to 297.15 K at atmospheric pressure using a laser detecting system. The solubility data were correlated by the modified Apelblat equation and Buchowski-Ksiazczak lambda h equation. Both the Apelblat equation and the Buchowski-Ksiazczak lambda h equation can fit the solubility data well. The dissolution enthalpy and entropy of 3-pentadecylphenyl acrylate were predicted with the solubility data using modified Apelblat equation. (C) 2012 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
