State to state recoil anisotropies in the photodissociation of deuterated ammonia
The near ultraviolet photodissociation of deuterated ammonia, ND3, allows particularly clear observation and quantification of the quantum state dependent angular anisotropy of the recoiling D+ND2((X) over tilde) photoproducts. The recoil anisotropy is shown to depend upon five quantum numbers : The rotational quantum numbers of the parent molecule selected in the absorption process, and the rotational and vibrational quantum numbers of the resulting products.
