Synthesis of Poly(nalidixyloxymethylstyrene-co-acrylamide) and its Nalidixic Acid Release Behavior
Nalidixyloxymethylstyrene (NS) was synthesized by the reaction of sodium salt of nalidixic acid(NA) and p-chloromethylstyrene in chlorobenzene at 90℃. NS was radically copolymerized with acrylamide (AM) in dimethylformamide at 70℃ to give hydrophilic poly(NS-co-AM). From the hydrolysis of the copolymers, it was shown that the release of NA increased with increasing content of the hydrophilic. Am in the copolymers and with increasing pH and temperature of the release medium. These results are discussed with the swelling degrees of the copolymers.
