Morphology of Worn Surfaces of Rubber Compounds
The morphology of worn surfaces of three kinds of rubbers; polybutadiene (BR), styrene-butadiene copolymer (SBR),and natural rubbers (NR), was reported in this paper. Ablae abrader was used for the abrasion experiment. The pattern spacing, ridge height, and pattern angle were investigated as a function of frictional work input during the abrasion. The abrasion pattern of BR compound was slightly different from the those of SBR and NR. A possible explanation was given for the ovserved difference. The temperature and lubrication of the abrasion surface greatly affect the abrasion pattern.
