Miscibility and Properties of cis-Polybutadiene/Ethyl-Branched Polyethylene Blends(Ⅰ)

cis-Polybutadiene(cis-PBD) and the three polyethylene(PE''s) having different branch content were mixed to investigate miscibility and properties on ethyl branch concentration. The three blends were immiscible at room temperature, and showed the simple additivity effect in density behavior. The melting point depression with blend composition increased in order of cis-PBD/PE(9)>cis-PBD/PE(6)>cis-PBD/PE(2). In the tensile test, cis-PBD/PE(9) showed the rapid enhancement of breaking strengh with increasing PE(9) content due to strain hardening effect. From the result, we could expect cis-PBD/PE(9) to be used commercially.
