Surface and Interfacial Properties of Poly(n-hexyl isocyanate) Films at interfaces
We study surface and interfacial properties of a rigid-rod-like polymer of poly(n-hexyl isocyanate)(PHIC) by the surface and interfacial pressure measurements, fluorescence microscope and atomic force microscope (AFM) techniques, PHIC shows the formation of a condensed film at the air water interface and it leads to the formation of multilayer film at lower surface area. Fluorescence microscope images of PHIC at the air-water interface allow us to distinguish between monolayer to multilayer formation and they show that the monolayer of PHIC is in the liquid state. At a n-heptane-water interface, PHIC forms a monolayer. AFM images of the LB PHIC films provide the molecular association process in the monolayer and multilayer states.
