Preparation and Crystallographic Characterization of C-60{eta(1)-Ru(CO)(2)(eta(5)-C5H5)}(2): A Locally Crowded Organometallic Fullerene Without the Usual eta(2)-Bonding
The reaction of {(eta(5)-C5H5)Ru(CO)(2)}(2) with C-60 in toluene solution under thermal or photolytic conditions produces C-60{eta(1)-Ru(CO)(2)(eta 5-C5H5)}(2), whose structure has been determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The two Ru(CO)(2)(eta(5)-C5H5) units are bound at the opposite ends of a hexagon on the fullerene surface and are closely intertwined.
