Vapor-Pressures at Several Temperatures T and Excess Functions at T=298.15 K of (Butanenitrile Plus Hexan-1-Ol or Octan-1-Ol)
Vapour pressures of (butanenitrile + hexan-1-ol or octan-1-ol) between the temperatures T = 288.15 K and 323.15 K were measured by a static method. Excess enthalpies and volumes were also measured at T = 298.15 K. Reduction of the vapour pressures to obtain activity coefficients and excess molar Gibbs free energies was carried out by Barker’s method. The apparent hydrogen-bond fcontribution to H-m(E) for {(1 - x)CH3(CH2)(2)CN + xCH(3)(CH2)(4)CH2OH} is estimated. For {(1 - x)CH3(CH2)(2)CN + xCH(3)(CH2)(v-2)CH2OH} all the molar excess functions increase with the chain-length of the alcohol.
