Excess Molar Volumes of (X(C4H9)(2)O+(1-X)H(CH2)(V)(Och2Ch2)(3)Oh) (V=1,2, and 4) at the Temperature 298.15K
The excess molar volumes V-m(E) of binary mixtures of {x(C4H9)(2)O + (1-x)H(CH2)(nu)(OCH2CH2)(3)OH} for nu = 1, 2, and 4 have been measured as a function of mole fraction x using a continuous-dilution dilatometer at T = 298.15 K. The V-m(E) decreases in magnitude as the alkyl chain length of the alkoxyethanol increases. Excess volumes are positive over the whole mole fraction range for the systems di-n-butylether with nu = 1 and 2 and change sign from positive to negative for the remaining system di-n-butylether with nu = 4. The behaviour of V-m(E) with composition and the number of carbon atoms in the aliphatic chain of the alkoxyethanol is discussed along with those for other two homologous series reported in the literature.
