The Speed of Sound and Isentropic Functions of (Xh(CH2)(Nu)(Oc2H4)(2)Oh+(1-X)(C4H9)(2)O), (Nu=1, 2, and 4) at the Temperature 298.15 K
The speeds of sound have been measured in {xH(CH2),(OC2H4)(2)OH + (1 - x)(C4H9)(2)O} for v = 1, 2, and 4 as a function of mole fraction x at the temperature 298.15 K, using a sing-around technique, and al a frequency of 4 MHz. The excess molar volumes were taken from the literature and combined with the measured values of the speeds of sound to obtain estimates of the product K-S,K-m of the molar volume and the isentropic compressibility kappa(s), and the corresponding excess quantities K-S,m(E) were also calculated. The deviations of the speed of sound u(D) from the values calculated for ideal mixtures have been obtained. These values are compared with the mixing function delta u calculated in the literature. The behaviour of u(D), delta u, and K-S,m(E) with composition and number of carbon atoms in the aliphatic chain of the alkoxyethanol is discussed.
