Residual stresses in roller straightened rails
A 3D finite element simulation is presented to calculate the residual stresses which develop during the roller straightening process of railway rails. Since this type of process simulation with contact and plasticity is very time consuming a special simplification is used to stay within reasonable computing times. The finite element package ABAQUS was used for the analysis.
